Apple is adapting William Gibson's Neuromancer into a TV Series
Apple recently announced its decision to order a series based on William Gibson's seminal cyberpunk novel, Neuromancer. With this unexpected venture, Apple takes a daring leap into the gritty, tech-obsessed world that has captivated readers for decades. Executive producers JD Dillard (Devotion, Sleight) and Graham Roland (Lost, Jack Ryan) will direct the first episode, and serve as showrunner respectively, which is exciting news in itself!
Not much is known right now about the show’s release date, or cast, but Apple has said in a press release that the series will be a 10-episode drama, that “will follow a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”
Neuromancer, published in 1984, introduced readers to the concept of cyberspace—an interconnected virtual reality where humanity mingles with artificial intelligence. It is often regarded as the definitive cyberpunk novel, and has already been adapted into a video game and graphic novel.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for this exciting adaptation, but until then, there are plenty of sci-fi shows to catch up on from Apple TV +, like Foundation, Silo, Invasion, and Constellation.
